Anyone with experience know if an x500 has the sack and ability to rip up a gravel drive? I need to rip my top layer to repair pot holes that I'm tired of patching. Thanks

If you are talking about a John Deere X500 lawn mower then I'd recommend not using it for that. A compact tractor would be a better choice.

Just looking for more reasons to jump up to a scut! The ol lady doesn't see the need but she has zero clue about the amount of gravel, dirt, and firewood I will be moving in the next few years. I'm not against renting equipment but would love to own my own. Any experience with a bx or 1 series while driving through woods ? Be nice to have one piece of equipment to mow/fel/remove snow/ repair driveway etc etc etc

Your gonna struggle with that JD X500.I have a JD X740(diesel)and would not attempt it.

It's important to right-size the equipment to match the task. I'm not familiar with Kubota but can say the JD 4300 I've had for 12 years has been excellent. Note that the JD 1 series has a special offer going on until July 31. Buy 2 implements and get 60 months free financing plus $1000 off price.

I've scraped some potholes off of the drive by adding a good bit of weight to the front blade setup on my x500, it wasn't a good idea, but it can be done if you can keep traction.

Myself haha didn't mean for that to come off wrong . I just need to quit being cheap and get what the jobs I want to do call for . I would hope a bx or 1 series are up to the task of pulling a box blade or land pride down a gravel drive if not let me know.

What do you plan to do with a tractor besides the driveway? Lawn work and/or woods work, ground work it can make a big difference in what is the best to buy.
