If looking at a BX, you should look at the B series Kubota's. They have much more ground clearance so you aren't getting into the famed HST fan shredding if you get an unlucky stick sticking up. I don't believe them to be much more expensive than a BX. If a bit bigger size doesn't matter to you, I would be looking at the B23xx or B26xx series. I don't think you gain anything in the B29xx series unless you plan to do some heavy PTO work as the tractor isn't heavy enough to utilize much more than the 23 HP. They also have much larger tires for a bit smoother ride and better traction. My daughter has a B2930 with MM mower and mows her yard with it, son in law uses the tiller and middle buster to make up his garden all without removing the mower deck.
I think you would be much happier doing ground engaging work with it rather than a 1 series JD or a BX.
