I am confused by a couple statements in this thread, as I have a X534 and I don't believe it is much different than the other 500 series models other than I have 4WS.

One other thing mentioned by others is that they could not get a 48" mower deck with some models. I had no trouble getting the 48" deck with mine, it was not special ordered either. I don't know why this deck width would not be available with any 500 series machine.

The ONLY X500 Series you can not get the 48" deck on from JD is the X530. It is not that it does not fit, JD does not offer it. It is possible to put a 48" deck on the X530, but you would have to find a dealer willing to swap the decks for you and they would be taking on the risk of stocking the take-off deck and trying to resell it. My dealer would not do that. He also said that if I ever had any warranty issues, because the serial numbers would not match, any warranty claims on the deck would be difficult. I really wanted the X530 for the HDAPs, power steering and power lift, but I could not live with the 54" deck.
