Workmaster 33 in "Safe Mode"

   / Workmaster 33 in "Safe Mode" #31
When our WM 33 was pretty new, I measured the voltages on the connector of the difference (delta) circuit board. Starting from the left, the first pin in unused. The second pin is ground, 3rd is +5VDC, 4th is 2.5VDC, 5th is 0.525VDC (right after regen), and 6th is 2.475VDC (right after regen). After operating for a few hours and before next regen, 5th wire is 0.535VDC, and 6th is 2.465VDC. I just purchased a NH WorkMaster 33/37 Service Manual in pdf for $20.00. By the way, the above measurements were performed with engine running. With engine off, but key turned to on, 5th wire was 0.500VDC, and 6th was 2.5VDC. These last 2 wires are shown connected to the ECU in the service manual.

Our WM 33 is still under emissions warranty (7 years). The dealer replaced the entire burner and the tractor ran well; however, regenned every 2 hours, until last week when only one regen indicator came on, the second (up to temp) indicator never came on. I checked several sensors and so far don’t know what is messed up. Maybe the burner or maybe the ECU. After next repair either gut the DPF or sell and get a different tractor. LS manufactured this WM 33. The typical cloned Chinese service tech tool software does not work on the WM 33, so they say. I read online that the Perkins tech tool and software does work.

I hope you or your dealer can figure it out.

All this emission stuff can sure reek havoc when it doesn't function properly, such a shame.

You can easily remove the system from tractor if you want to there are threads talking about how to do it. The workmaster 33 is the same tractor as my LS 3032

Thanks! I dislike the EPA very much. I have dealt with bad emission systems on diesel trucks and now a tractor. I reckon most of us have. The chem trails are likely worse than emissions from diesel exhausts.

These extremely hot regens and running high RPMs shortens the life of an engine. Burns extra fuel, as well. The EGR system dirties the engine oil and makes it more abrasive. A terrible way to treat a good engine.

Well I am going to bite the bullet and take my tractor into New Holland dealer to see what they can do. My neighbor takes them a lot of business and said they are going to treat me right and work as cheap as they can.

I hope they treat you fairly! Mine is going to the local dealership when they have an opening. We have a small dealership and their shop stays very busy. Once our WM 33 is repaired we are going to sell or trade. First choice for next tractor is a Yanmar and second is a Mahindra.

Our WorkMaster 33 went further than safe mode. It would only run 30 seconds and shut off. Using the method of starting the engine and immediately pushing the inhibit regen toggle for 2 seconds and then pushing the toggle to force regen until both regen indicator lights illuminated, it would run about 20 minutes. My neighbor works for a large construction company. His shop mechanic says, while tractor is still operating normally, gut the DPF with a wood paddle bit and reinstall. Then no more regen and no more problem.
Okay, I like the idea of punching a hole through the DPF, if it was the right size the pressure differential switch would not know the difference?????? What size hole are or would be recommended? I've got a Boomer 37 that the regen light comes one right away when started, then in about a minute the heater/regen light come on and will not go off... I've run it two hrs at 2200 and it hasn't chantged..... i will for sure try the paddle bit...

From what I understand start with a couple at 3/8" or less you can always go bigger. I have NOT done this yet.....
