Wing Plow

/ Wing Plow #33
I just came across your thread. Nice job, just can find enough to plow once you get going is there? Hook anything with the wing yet? When I first built mine I had something similar to yours where it would not lift high enough if you happen to drop in a low spot and the blade would hook a snowbank or tree and not allow you to reverse out of a deteriorating position, hence the cylinder and almost vertical lift clearing most objects except maybe the garage door trim. Have Fun

I will make note of the "deteriorating position" and hope it doesn't happen. :) But so far, the wing pushes the tractor to the side when it encounters an immovable object, like the heavy ice/snow now that came after a couple inches of rain on Christmas eve and Christmas Day. It froze huge chunks of ice, that the wing will either move, slice down in size, of push away from. Seems to be well balanced for moving snow back vs over-stressing itself.
Possibly could be a bit closer to the ground at the leading edge, like 3" rather than the present 6". And possibly a lift point further out on the push bar from the drawbar connection (however that would mean less lift at the wing tip).

But for present, no changes planned. Very happy with the outcome, and appreciate the comments and suggestions for any improvement.

Had a PM question about the wing plow fabricated last year.
Mounted it for it's first run this winter, and the pic shows it extended and ready to roll.
Made short work out of the berms piled along the drive and the town road. Rolled them back and now have a nice shelf to put more snow, and to absorb some of the drifting.

Beenthere,

That's a very nice job on the ''wing plow''!!... Very well thought out! ;)

I also like the Western blade!... I was told you had a great setup on your 4300, and you sure do! :)

Thanks for sharing the pictures & video!
