Winch Question

I have an older Yale chain come-a-long. It isn't very long. It is heavy. But it has a lot of pulling power. One could probably put a 100 foot chain into it if one wanted though, if one had good high tensile chain.

But, I certainly like the winch on my Blazer. I have chained the Blazer to a tree before... Was that pulling the tractor out of a hole?

My project for this weekend is to build a 3PTH winch. It will be electric with spot for one or two batteries. Should weight in around 300 lbs. If the Op was using the box blade as a counter weight, a 3PTH winch would be a good option. If you got stuck using the box blade, then he needs another option.

If you are to carry a come-a-long, then you will need a large tool box for it and some chain. You should be able to install an ATV winch up front, IE 2500 lb with a pullyblock and tree saver strap, should get you our of most situations where you are by yourself miles from assistance.
