Will my M9000 pull a 12\' offset?

My M9000 has 4WD and 90hp will it pull a 12' offset disc?

Looked at my book and offsets do not seem to be listed.

I have a 16' offset that I pull with my 85hp(75 pto) 4wd tractor. It pulls it with little problem at 4-5 mph in heavy soil with the front scalloped gangs set aggresive.

Anybody else? Will a offset really plow better?

Re: Will my M9000 pull a 12\' offset?

I use a 4320 JD (116hp) 2wd to pull a 12'7" tandem disc. I don't see why you couldn't pull it. The 4wd is the big difference. It's literally like having another half a tractor.
The offset I have pulled (w/ my 50hp Mahindra) was only 6' but it definitely pulled harder than a tandem of the same size. I don't think you will have any trouble.

Re: Will my M9000 pull a 12\' offset?

It's a little subjective, Sparkky.

Primary tillage or just for soil conditioning? This can pull very differently.

How heavy is this plow? Some offsets are relatively light and pull no differently than their equivalent tandem disc, others are heavy and pull much harder.

I've pulled a medium weight 12' tandem behind a 120hp 2wd tractor in primary tillage in 2nd-3rd gear without much trouble. But, some friends bought a heavy-duty Krause 10' offset and it gives their 110hp 2wd fits at times. All in the dry, hard clay common to north Texas/southern OK.

Also, the M9000 (like most Kubotas) has a good engine.....but the tractor itself is on the light side. Weighing in at around 5800-6200lbs, I compare it to the MF 5460 of roughly the same power at 8000-8500lbs. That's a big difference in weight and power-to-the-ground.

So, could you pull this with the M9000? Yeah, depending on what you want to do and at what speed.

Re: Will my M9000 pull a 12\' offset?

My JD 4020 pulls my 12' offset fine most of the time. Going uphill in unbroken clay can be tough. My 4wd CIH 4230 (72 hp) pulls it a little better in the same soil conditions. I haven't tried the CIH with the FEL removed, but with it on it's pushing 9,000 lbs.

To answer your question - I think the M9000 will do fine.
And remember...no matter how big of tractor you get you will always find something it isn't big enough for! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Think the offset is a medium weight Schaffer 12'. The tandem they have is a Med. Krause 14' wide.

Going to be primary tillage so I can plant a cover crop then native grass.

My land is alot of sand withsome black dirt here and there.

Re: Will my M9000 pull a 12\' offset?

Just curious, what size blades are you guys pulling and how deep are they cutting? What type of ground and is it flat or rolling hills? I thought maybe some of these answers could be helpful also.

Re: Will my M9000 pull a 12\' offset?

Well it was a heavy 14' offset and there's no way I could pull it, had a fair 14' tandem but the stupid thing sold for almost $900.00 it brought more than the offset which usually bring the most.
