Xfaxman:

For a tractor like my B3300SU/33-hp/1,900 pounds, do you think a narrow stump bucket on the FEL, or a Brush Boss on the 3-Pt. is the better tool?

Does your "Brush Boss" have rear hydraulic tilt?

Is the "Brush Boss" still in production? No web site for Harkness-Hayporter.

In principle, I like the idea of tree removal by a tool on robust 3-Pt. hitch, rather than the FEL.

Do you have anything like this for your 3 point?

You can add a ripper tooth or a scarifier or something to grab a stump.

After looking at the link I remember it did come with the hydraulic cylinder. I bought it at a farm auction about 10 years ago. I had the MF240D then, the 3 point lift was strong enough that I removed the foot and never used the cylinder.

I turned the Brush Boss around, in 4WD any cedar tree that I could run over, it would pull out. :D

I have the ratchet rake..its a great to for some things but not stumps bigger than bush size. Today I used the digger ripper for the first time. I just got it a couple days ago. Now that does some good digging. I would use it for those stumps for sure.

Thanks for the post, Have RR and been thinking of getting the Digger Ripper. Only question I have about it is how do you see what you are digging? Doesn't tractor and FEL block view?

Its definitely harder to see what your doing compared to digging with just the bucket. Ill know more as I use it more but I think it will be something I can get a feel for. I tip the bucket down so I can see the front of the teeth, then stab it in and start digging. It certainly wont be as easy as a backhoe but I think for a small job it will be ok.

Here are two photos of my Bucket Spade. Once you are familiar with it visibility is NOT an issue.
