Wicker Furniture

OK, all you do-it-yourselfers. My wife bought some wicker furniture for the patio. Protected from rain and direct sunlight, but exposed to the environment otherwise. It is finished in a natural (?) brown color, maybe some kind of varnish. She wants to know what to put on it to further protect it from the elements. She wants to keep the same color, not paint it. We had some before that really dried out and deteriorated after several years.

Petroleum based poly-urethane will seal it and add years to the finish.

SPAR varnish. Polyeurothane will deteriorate from UV light, and flake.
The coating that is on there from the factory is probably laquer cause it drys fast and doesn't soak in to the wicker.
