Wait a minute... YOU are purchasing WATERFORD CRYSTAL Stemware?????? What are you trying to do....upstage the Kennedys?? Tell your GF to get her glasses from McDonald's like all good Americans...:D
I totally assure you that I did not pay for them and they are not for us. I drink my generic (store brand) soda out of old generic peanut butter jars with the covers removed. I believe that crystal is intended to be a Christmas present for her recently married nephew's wife.

The trick here is to keep your sense of humor, that's important.......

Recently the wife and I purchased a new Maytag washer and drier. After I got the equipment home and installed the protective plastic was peeled away from the control panel. They put that junk on to prevent scratches, anyway there was a pretty good dent in the washer control panel. dang, dang, dang

Instead of taking the whole kit and caboodle back to the store we called Maytag who said they would send out a new part with a technician. 1st the part shows up at the door then the technician comes a day or two later. When he pulls the new part out of the box it isn't any better than the original part.

So it's up to us to call Maytag a second time. And I was given special instructions to open the next box before the tech arrives to be sure there is no hidden damage. Gee I hope I can remember to do that!

The second box arrives and it's opened and I pull the protective film off the panel to give it a good look-see. The good news is there is no damage to the panel. The bad news is that it's for the drier NOT the washer as ordered. Well at least the tech didn't have to show up.

Third call to Maytag to order. And the correct part finally shows up, undamaged. I'm still waiting for the technician to install it, but hey, I'm keeping my sense of humor here.

Sounds like when I bought a new washer at Sam's Club. Got it home and after pulling tho box off found one of the front lower corners bashed in. Took it back to get another one, we cut the cardboard and lifted about 3 more before we found one without a lower corner bashed in. Got that one home and found the top panel bashed when we completely removed the box:mad: Took that one back also and got a refund, had all I could stand:cool:

Years ago. like in the early 80's I bought a 'big' 25 inch consol TV from Sears.
WOW for the time.
It ran good for almost 3 months ,just past the warranty. So I 'ordered; a new one, and a few days later was in the store and the rep, who was a friend and neighbor asked why I hadnt had them try to fix it. He quoted me a price of 20 dollars to come and evaluate it, and I went that route, the tech came out and looked at it, I assumed he would test the tube, as was standard practice, but he didnt . Anyways he found a transtor was bad and left and ordered it. A week or so later sears calls ad the order is in, I assumed it was other stuff I had ordered but it was an envelope with the part in it,I opened it and asked when they could put it in, and they said Id have to call the tech line, which I did, two weeks later the guy arrives , solders it in
hits the switch .POOF goes the transistor.HMM they order another one, and three weeks later I have a TV. for a day. as then there was a loud hissing, and finallly smoke, and light fire. Toast.
Then received a bill for 125 dollars. went in and 'negotited' the 125 dollars off the original oredered replacement TV.Interesting how funny things are when you look back on them. even tho they arent at the time.

Well... Good news and bad news. I ordered a pair of matching parts for my backhoe hydraulic thumb project. They arrived in an intact box... but one item was strangely (and dangerously) malformed. Called the seller (a company with an excellent overall reputation here)... who then contacted Bradco... and arranged for Bradco to send out a replacement part. I received the replacement part on Friday... also in an intact box with NO shipping damage at all!!!

The new part was absolutely flawless in every respect... except that it doesn't match the other good one at all.

I give up. :(

What gets me is when you order a new car and it comes pre- scratched and dented.

That's so when you park it in a parking lot the first time, it isn't so traumatic...:D

a friend of mine ordered a new toyata years ago when you had to get them from japan. They dropped the pallot it was on when they were unloading it from the ship. Totally smashed it flat. His car was from the last production run of that model and they could not get him another one. He was getting something like a corolla and told them he would take a celica as a replacement. They tried to make him pay full price for the celica. 4.5 hours later after he walked to the door three times and they stopped him before he could go call his lawyer, they finally settled on him making 18 cents a month more in payments for the original term of his loan.

I recently received 2 packages, both of them in perfect condition. One was FEd-ex, other was USPS. The USPS was t-shirts from a well known auto parts chain that sponsors races. I had gone to races with discount coupons, and on the coupon was a tear off part for a discount for the t-shirt. Went to 5 local (within about 50 miles Dallas, Terrell, Balch Springs, Seagoville, and Ennis) parts houses and they all were out. I e-mailed said sponsor, and V-P of marketing replied, wanted to know how many shirts and what size did I want. I got them in the mail yesterday. He thanked me for letting them know when something like this happens, he said they don't always get it right, but he wanted to make it up to me for my trouble.

Well, I ordered two new Hunter ceiling fans today; don't know which company will be handling them. The order confirmation the company I ordered from just says they'll be shipped FedEx or UPS. So I'll hope they arrive from New Mexico in good condition.:D

I ordered those fans on the 9th and FedEx delivered them on the 15th about 4:45 p.m. I also ordered a new battery for my APC UPS on the 22nd and FedEx delivered it late in the afternoon of the 25th.

In both cases, the driver set the box by the front door, rang the doorbell once, and ran for the truck like the devil was on his heels. But also in both cases, the products and the containers (boxes) were in good shape. I guess the drivers were just running because it was getting late in the day.:D

I happened to be home when Fed-ex showed up, or my package may have turned out differently. I walked out as he was backing up, he handed me the package and off he went.

I was home when mine arrived, too. And I promptly went to the front door when the doorbell rang. That's how I happened to see the drivers running for the truck each time.:)

.

My boxes always arrive in good shape. The Fed-Ex guy recently put a package in a plastic bag when it was just threatening to rain. And he put the opening facing down! Can't remember if the UPS guy does this or not.

When I first moved to this house I put a req on my first shipping label to drop it by the side door, not the front. Now they both just do it automatically, whether or not the label says anything.

As far as dropping the packages and running, both those companies are in heated competition w eachother. I've heard horror stories about how the workers in the dist centers/wharehouses are treated (driven to the point of dropping). Can't imagine the drivers are treated any better.

Well Mcmaster Carr just switched from UPS to FED EX for my area. UPS was next day by 10am. They left it at the door or left a note. FEDEX 4:12 in the PM. The only way I knew was by checking the FED EX site. No note.
I left a note to leave the package but my wife happened to be home. I sent a note to McMaster Carr telling them not to use FED EX. They replied that if I wanted UPS I could give them my account no and they would use them. Like I have an account with UPS. I guess the low bidder gets the work. Maybe thats why the solar panel on the space station just ripped.

I should be so lucky! UPS used to arrive around 1100 at my house. Over the years the area has grown and he usually comes around 1830-1900! Fedex is all over the place, could be 1000 could be 1600.

We at one time shipped out 75-100 packages 5 days a week over a period of 9 years. We have used UPS, USPS, and Fed-Ex and the damaged packages were still less than 1%. That isn't to shabby in my opinion.

If I order at our McMaster Carr before 10 AM, I get the item the same day. :D UPS, about 120 mile trip.
