I want a 60-70 hp 4wd Utility tractor. Something built a little heavier than the usual compact. Think I want a wet clutch too. What Kubota models should I look at? 15 years old max.

With no use requirements other than HP...only summary info is provided:

60 hp at the PTO is a transition area for Kubota.

Kubota L series:
Max out at about 60hp...smaller frame, smaller utility tractor, loader work, mowing, limited agricultural, not targeted for heavy ground engagement tasks.

Kubota M60, M5, M6 series:
50hp and up, typically larger frame, heavier, targeted as agricultural use tractor

Kubota MX series
50 to 60 hp, targeted as utility tractor and bridge between L and M series.

If you're serious, search YouTube for "Messicks" for some short, informative videos on the Kubota tractor product line.

Good Luck!

M7040. Horsepower, compact, bulletproof, pre-emission and lots around. One of the best Kubotas ever made. 70HP.

Tractors are like barns. You always need bigger.

Both the Grand L and MX series Kubota tractors in the 60HP range, have been around for quite a few years. I have an L6060 HSTC and an MX5800 HST. Both have been bullet proof.

The M series Kubotas offer more power $ weight but if you want an HST transmission, the choices are limited.

Agree with both Mr. BDHSFZ6 and Mr. Sixdogs!

I've put 1000 hours on my 60 hp MX6000 and love the power for it's size, along with the HST transmission...though a right priced M7040 might get me considering a swap, even though it is likely overkill for my 35 acres.

What are the main duties for the tractor? I have a M5040... it is great, but if I was searching again I would go with a larger engine, like the M7040 mentioned earlier, and a six speed transmission. (Which makes it a 12 with the high low, mine is only 8 total). For brush hogging I often need a 3 and a half gear that I can never locate lol

This issue alone highlights the functionality of a HST. I've never operated a MX, but if you want a HST then a MX with the biggest motor you can find and or afford is probably the way to go.
