Which engine is in your Yanmar

One of the neat things that we can do here is collect information. I have seen questions about which engine was in each model. If you will post the Tractor model number and the engine number from your tractor it can be added to the specifications list and help us to get a better idea of the relationships between the various Yanmar models. Knowing which Yanmar engines were in the John Deeres would be interesting.

My 186D has a 3T72HA engine in it

JD 950 has a 3T90J engine in it.

JD 1050 has a 3T90TJ engine in it. The trailing T in the 1050 number is for turbocharged.

Chris, I have been selling Yanmars since 1973, and the Co. always required dealers to fill out registration forms which includes model nos. and s/n. As Jared indicated the YM240 had a model 2TR20A engine, but there was a design change about 1975 when the headlights were mounted in the hood instead of on the sides, and the engine must have had a change of some sort (perhaps the air cleaner) because the engine model had a -X put on the end.
The Model YM122,12 H.P. single cyl. tractor had a MA10-N engine.
The YM146, 14 H.P. twin cyl. had a 2T75U-N, this later became the GT14.
The YM140(D) and 147(D) had a 2T75HA twin cyl. engine.
The YM135 had a 2T73A twin cyl.
The YM155 had a 2TR13A twin cyl.
The YM186 had a 3T72HA, three cyl.
The YM180 and 187 had a 3T72HA-N, three cyl.
The YM195 had a 2T84A, twin cyl.
The YM220 and 226 had a 3T75HA, three cyl.
The YM276 had a 3T84HA, three cyl.
The YM330 had a 3T84A, three cyl.
The YM336 had a 3T84A-N, three cyl,

My 2310 has a 3T84H-S engine. serial # 3T84-280720. Tractor Serial # 23A 00443. The engine has a tag where I got the motor designation. The tag is near the top center on the injector side. There is quite alot of Japanese writing, the tag also shows:

23 PS
2500 RPM
1.413
2700RPM

Does anybody know what the 1.413 stands for? I understand the 23PS@2500RPM (27HP@2500RPM)

It is possible, after the 1.413 there is a japanese letter which I can't totally make out. It might be their symbol for cubicliters.

Looks like Yanmar uses that 3T84 engine a lot. Thats interesting.

Does anyone have any idea which engine is in a JD 750? I've got a new (to me) yanmar 1610D which has a 3T75U engine. I note the JD 850 has a 3T80x engine. Just wondering which JD model is nearest to my 1610 in case this is ever useful to know.

This whole discussion certainly helps relate grey-market to US yanmars, at least with respect to the engines.

The engines in newer JD and yanmar are as different as night and day. Yanmar builds engines to John Deere specifications. The intake and exhaust manifolds are on opposite sides of the head. This is the first difference noticable when comparing the engines. The injector is mounted different and doesn't appear to be the same, I'm not sure on that one. There are componants that will exchange, the starter, alternater, possibly the injector. but the castings for the block and head are completely different. I know that the early yanmar built JD's were the same.

My F22D has a 3TNB82U engine. Rated at 22PS at 2500RPM.

My F16D has a 3T75U-NC. I think it is similar to the 195D US model.

Yep, Chris....Yanmar did use that 3T84 engine in a lot of tractors and other things as well. I see it in a variety of displacements and it sort of reminds me of the Chevy mall block Engine. Basically the same casting, but depending on internal parts that engine ranged from a two barrel 265 cu inch "economiser" on up through the 400 cu inch "mighty mouse" version.

The JD 735 front mower has a weird V-twin vertical Yanmar diesel but it is packed so tight I couldn't find the plate.
