ordered the 2320 with the loader and I think it comes with a 49" bucket....is there really a big difference in going to the 53".....I haven't taken delivery yet so I could still change to the 53" bucket...I think my dealer has both sizes on his lot.....but is it worth it guys...? and do yall know what the price difference would be to step up ....thanks

Get the 53. I don't know the price difference, but I have the 53 on my 2210. Unless you have gates or the like, I can't imagine wanting smaller.

just talked to the dealer and he said he would recommend staying with the 49 because of the added stress the 53 would cause to the front axle ...

i had the 61 on my 2520....have no idea why you would want smaller. Just because you have a big bucket doesn't mean you have to heap it with heavy loads.

I'd get at least the 53. I have the 53 on my 2305 and have never had an issue. The difference in weight of the buckets alone is miniscule, probably 10lbs. Granted you can fit a tiny bit more stuff in the bucket than the 49.

Will the 49" cover the width of the tractor if so y go to the 53", your only talking about 4" and is it worth spending the extra money. If the 49 does not cover the width of the tractor then yes i would go will the larger bucket.

53 will cover tires. 49 would be real close.
Again, bigger is better, no need to fill it.

It Doesn't? :) Somehow I always end up full.
But I'd go with the 53" as its not likely to add that much more stress, but you may need the extra capacity sometime.

Just went to JD website under "build your own"/utility tractors/attachments for pricing.

The 49 inch "quick change" bucket is $50 more than the 49 inch "pin on" bucket. The 53 inch "quick change" bucket is only $33 more than the 49 inch "quick change" bucket.

From reading many previous posts, most agree the 53 inch quick change is the way to go.

does anyone know the width on the front from the outside of the front tires...will the 49" cover the width of the front end..?.....my dealer said he doesn't recommend the larger bucket on the smaller tractors but will check to see if he has one in stock....

Used to be the narrower bucket was the heavier duty. Also had a heavier cutting edge on it.
The price difference indicates that may be the case here too. I'm glad I went with the heavy duty, but then I don't move lightweight material like snow and sawdust. Just a thought.

edit: There were only two buckets available 11 yrs ago when I purchased the JD 4300. Today may be different as to what is HD and what is not.

size has nothing to do with the heavy duty....they make a heavy duty version of various sizes....for example there is a 61" standard bucket. or the 61" hd which has side gussets, a boxed in top, and a heavy cutting edge with holes for a bolt on edge....

i don't know how small they make the heavy duty in, but the standard buckets are all standard. from 49-73inch. i've seen them all in person, no differences.

Get the 53". With a properly filled ballast box (you are getting one?) front axle loading is not a concern.

My 2210 handled the 53 really well. I usually wished it had a bigger bucket.
I could even dig with the 53 on it. You have alot bigger tractor, but the same power.

Your dealer is probably "recommending" the smaller bucket because the larger bucket is more popular and he (or Deere) has a boat-load of them they want to get rid of. I suspect your dealer's recommendation is self-serving and not based on capability of the machine. If potential damage to the machine is a possibility, then why is it even an option? Why aren't they telling you that by putting the larger bucket on, you will void your warranty because it's not recommened? I say it's just your dealer's personal opinion on the matter.

You will only regret getting the 53" because you could have had the 61".
My dealer suggested the 53" over the 49" on my 2520. After a year of pushing snow and moving firewood I wish I would have ordered the 61".

well guys...the dealer said he didn't have the 53" in stock so I didnt want to wait for him to order one and went ahead and stuck with the 49"....I think it"ll be enough bucket for the kind of things I'll need it for...they got the FEL installed today and I went and looked at the 49" and it was actually bigger then I thought...it does cover the whole front end and sticks out past each front tire....:)

You are seriously going to kick yourself for this in the near future. If you decide to upgrade to a bigger bucket, you will be out a LOT of cash. Don't rush, and make the dealer get the bucket you want. :confused2:
