Which battery for this application?

Well, my battery guy showed up today and took the 750 marine cranking amp battery back and gave me a 1000 cold cranking amp marine starting battery in exchange. I learned that the marine cranking amp rating is done at something like 75 degrees while cold cranking amps are measured at 32 degrees. Regardless of the obvious power difference, he just swapped the batteries even up for me and I was happy. /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

I had to run an errand so my lot man was going to install it. When I got back I parked out back to check the operation or the trailer and was disappointed the bed didn't move. As it turns out this newest battery is too large for the battery box so it's another little welding project on the horizon. He did tell me he hooked the battery up anyhow just to test it while I was gone and, to quote him, "It lifted that empty bed so fast we could use it for a catapult!" /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

It sounds like we might have the right battery now but it looks like it'll be Sunday before I get the time to get a new battery box on it. It's like Gilda Radner's Roseann Roseannadanna used to say; "It's always something."
