You want some great front tires, on rims for our old Yanmar 4wd just go to a new Yanmar dealer and tell them you want a set off of (for) a new 324 tractor, (same frame, engine, front axle, 4 bolt pattern spindle, etc.). Same 18hp PTO power as my 187d. Got a pair of 6 ply that do not squat with a load in the bucket. Less than $200 on new rims.

That's a pretty sweet deal for wheels and tires!!! Do you have any pictures of your set on your tractor?

Truck tires seem to be a common replacement for "turfs".
A side benefit is that chain sets are readily available in those sizes - assuming you have clearance for them.
Even if you aren't in the snow belt, chains on turfs (or truck tires) can be used for field work - better than Ags or R4s in SOME instances.

A local sports field contractor gives racing slicks a second life - they have NO tread, I don't know if he also does putting greens, but they are the ultimate "NO PRINT" tire.

Never thought about old race slicks as a turf tire, but that isn't a half bad idea. Would be cool to see someone with a set of those on their tractor!

Until you cactually needed traction, like up a slight incline with wet grass!

This is the way I'm looking at maybe needing some Traction 1/4mile? Seen this on TBN. before. It has the cool factor...

Love to see that guy do donuts on dry payment or dirt...
Bet that would wipe the smile off his face.

Was trying to get a guess of the speed. He had better pucker up or get awful heavy in the britches!! Just sayin.............

That was actually pretty funny to watch

Watched it a few times. If it was mine Pos.Trac. and the Mags. would be next. Then after he does blow out some britches. A Wheelie bar for sure would be my bet......

How is he shifting it and not grinding it bad?

I don't think he is shifting. Sounds and looks like a direct drive transmission. He is just adjusting the throttle as he lets the clutch out.

One thing for sure, his front end is in much better shape than most older model tractors I have encountered, else he would be turned over somewhere in that field. :D

If you Listen good you can hear grinding. Listen when he pulls out of the shop and then A forward gear.. How can you not hear that...

Man I'd love to know where to get that kind of deal. My local dealer quoted $1700 for the full set of SA324 mounted tires (I'm assuming the fronts were about a third of that). I'm trying to do the same thing as the OP for a 1610D.

I wondered the same thing. A set of HD universal front tires on wheels for $200? That's a great deal!

The first thought that crossed my mind is that the dealer got them in a trade & has no money in them. But maybe they are real replacement parts. I guess it could be; 20 years ago I bought new front wheels and R4 tires for the YM336 for about $400. Anyone try ordering a pair of the SA324s yet?

Re tractor tire deals;

Could be like with our local Kubota dealer.
My friend needed tires for his B21 and it was considerably cheaper to buy a pair mounted on rims by a fairly long shot.

Later I learned that they were 'pulls' from an earlier sale whereby a buyer wanted other than what was standard issue for the model.
I'd say a very honest dealer and his sales volume shows it.
While my ride is a Mitsubishi their parts department is happy to research and cross reference in order to attempt to accommodate me.
For sure if I buy anything new they will be my first stop.

Price comparison - a year ago I bought two 6-12 R1 front tires for the YM186D. $100 each from a broad-line truck/farm/auto tire warehouse.

And note that 6-12 is a different size - smaller OD - compared to 6.00 x 12. Photo.

Maybe Mark can chime in and let us know where exactly he got them from and the brand of the tires too.
