I have a small project I am working on, and cannot figure out what it's called, this item I am looking for.

screw.jpg

I hope this shows up. It is basically a screw with a head that is flat on 2 sides, and has a threaded hole through the center, in addition to the shank being threaded. I have seen them with machine and wood threads on the shank. I know there is a bolt for rifles, that is the sling quick detach bolt, but don't know if that's the only source for them.

Oh, I should add, that I want the threaded hole in the center of the head to be for an 8-32 thread, or just slightly larger, if I cannot get that size. Smooth would work as well.

Wow, this is the proverbial needle in the haystack...besides a sling point attachment from gun manufacturer, your best bet might be to have a hobbyist make these for you. Around here we have several machinists who have pretty well equipped home shops, this would be easy to make with the right tools.

Good luck with your search!

Yea I might just have to go with the sling adapter. That must be the only one I've seen. Drawing a blank for some reason.

Tractor supply has something like that , looks like it was about a 1/2 inch, also there are the ones with wood screw threads that I believe they are used to hang suspended ceilings with.

HD and Lowes might have them also in that strange/rare parts bin they have in the screw/nail section.

Try Brownells. Anybody with a lathe could make that easily.

Might be able to make something work with one of these McMaster-Carr

But the smallest "eye" hole I see is 3/16 (.1875) and you need a .136 hole for 8-32 thread though.

One of the "blanks" might work if you have a tap and die.

How big does the shank need to be? Machine or wood threads?

What are you using it for and that may help us??
