What year is my 240d???

Is there a way to tell what year your tractor really is??? I know it is a 240D but have been unable to determine how old it is.

Serial #01953 was sold new in Sep of 1981.
That was fairly near the end of the green Yanmars.

I think I read here that the wheels are date stamped. Of course it only tells you when the wheels were manufactured.

The wheels on my F 20 D are stamped with 1984. So I know its not older than that. Also my engine has parts with the number 83 cast in to them. I have a friend that worked in a GM assembly plant that tells me that parts are often built several years in advance . of the machine being assembled

On American cars that I have checked, the taillight lens has the year of manufacture on it. I don't know if this is true on anything else or not.
