This is a carpet boom pole that I picked this up about 4 years ago (for free) and don't know what to do with it, if you have an idea please let me know otherwise i'll take it to the scrap yard. it weighs over 100 lbs and is solid steel and is about 12 to 14 feet long.

Thank for any suggestions
Brian

A fancy hydraulically operated gate to keep the rif raff out. The kind you see in front of federal buildings that go up and down out of the ground...

I'd enbed one end in a concrete filled tire so it is sticking straight up. Then hang a horseshoe shaped crosspiece on it (center of gravity below the point) and make a fancy windvane for the front lawn....Mount solar powered lights on it for effect

Same as pat32rf but after planting it, use the pole as the trunk of your outdoor Christmas tree. Run strands of lights from the tip to the ground all around. :)

Maybe a hay spear?

Cut in half and make forks for the loader?

About 5 yrs ago or more I would have cut it in to and made my bale spike out of it. Since I've already done that I might go ahead and do that again and sell it on Craigslist or to someone you know.

Put it in your front yard.

Just like deer baiting, when one of these shows up to use it, throw a net over her.

The rest is up to you.....:D

If you have kids or Grandkids and you have a swing set or tree house or similar, set it up as a "firemans pole" and let them slide down on it.

That is one of those things that you have lying around for years but when you think of a need for it it's not there anymore. It's prob a hardened steel that would be perfect for moving haybales or even making a nice set of forks for a FEL for moving brush piles or logs around with. Be too nice to take to scrap yard and you'll not get much for it with scrap prices being so low now.

I bet there are plenty of weekend fabricators on here that would love to have it.

With a female who just pole danced this rusty pole, you'll create red haired offspring !! :D

i would love a set of forks, but i think these are way too thick to use for forks, at least for picking up palettes. i guess it could make good brush forks.
I wished i farmed, because i agree it would make a great hay bale spear. and your right as soon as i get rid of it i know i will find some use for it.
its been hanging around for years, ive hit it with the mower a time or two. i even forgot about it till a tree fell where i had it laying, the thing was half covered with dirt and grass.
thank for the ideas
