I've finished tilling and working my 4 acres and have seeded it out. I've decided to sell my tractor and just get a riding mower. I purchased it new in December and it has 53 hours. It has a 410 FEL and R4 tires. I'll throw in the 48" box blade and 48" tiller. Would $11,500 be out of line?

Hello Rick,

Not sure how pricing varies from State to State or even Country to Country. I can tell you that the JD dealer I deal with offered me $15,000 ( CDN ) for my 2004 4010 with 250 hrs.(trade in) including 410 fel, 54" deck, ballast box. Privately I have listed it for $17,500 (CDN). I have had a lot of serious buyers.( to my surprise) 2 coming Saturday to take a look. I thought that was high but when you look in my area there is nothing available used in good condition. Just remember you can always come down in price . Seems to me like a really good deal especially with all the attachments! Good luck.

Also check into trading it in. Dealer may give you a ball park figure were to start.

Happy tractoring!

Maybe. The wife and I discussed this issue this morning and she really doesn't want me to sell the tractor. I admit I'd love to keep it. I'll think about the tiller.

Thank goodness I've come to my senses. Why I even thought about selling a tractor and buying a riding mower is against the TBN code of ethics. I might return the RFM and get a MMM, though. Decisions, decisions.

Kyle, I may sell you the tiller. Are you in a hurry for one or can you wait a couple of months?

Jamie, which MMM do you have? Is it easy enough to attach/remove? Do you use the hydraulics from the FEL to raise and lower it (disconnecting the hoses from the quick-connects I assume)?

Rick,

I have the 54" mmm. Fairly easy to remove. Typical JD fashion it is well engineered. Just disconect the pto shaft, 4 spring loaded pins which attach the deck to you rock shafts (operated by raising and lowering the 3pth) and one locking pin under the front machine. The wheels also spin 180 so you can roll the deck out from under the machine. Cuts real nice. I was thinking of going to RFM just because of it being that much easier to remove and clean. Also because your mmm moves up and down with 3pth attachments it gets in the way when you are using rear blades etc. deck only comes off the ground by about 4". When the deck is removed the steel brackets that support it still move up and down with the 3pth so you have to be careful not to catch them on rocks or debris if you have a 3pth attachment lowered. Also mmm are probaly twice the cost of RFM.

just my experiences!!

good luck!

Jamie

I will post a pick of deck if you want when I get home

Rick,

It's a JD mmm mulch compatible. The new 2520 has the independant MMM lift. which connects into the loader quick connects and is operated with the loader joystick.

Thanks, Jamie. It that the PTO shaft sticking up? How hard is it to attach? Similar to the rear PTO?

Rock shafts ( I think it's what there called ) hanging low with blade lowered and deck off!

Rick,

That long black thing is the pto shaft.

Just like hooking up rear except for it's UNDER the tractor. It is off set to one side a bit. ( I think right ) so best to crawl under the right side as not as far to reach. Sometimes it goes on lickety split other times...well to me it's like plumbing. ...lots of cursing but I get it eventually!! SO if it comes off and on a lot you may consider keeping your RFM. I am trading 4010 for 2520 and going with RFM. Easy on off and 1/3rd the cost!!

Also better pic of rock shaft hanging down with blade lowered

Good Luck!

When I take the deck off my 4110, I tie those brackets up high under the tractor with zip ties, it keeps them up and out of the way, and its easier than removing them.
