what size rotary cutter ?

think OP has 5' & looking for larger options
Yes. I noted that the subject of covering the full tire track came up though. This introduces a problem with cut of the grass flattened on the righthand side. Bushog "suction" is not normally sufficient to bring this back up enough to get a full cut. You could say that the situation really sux!

$3,500 for a 7 foot cutter that is near Kubota’s specs vs $6,500 for an 8 foot twin.

3k is a steep additional price for an additional 12" cut

Cut quality is better with 8’ twin.
Over several years of cutting, having a 13% wider cut represents a lot of time saved.
An 8’ twin semi mount should have less rear overhang and be more maneuverable.

IMO, I’d buy a used 8’ twin, specifically a JD MX-8 with side shift feature. Awesome mowing machine for under trees, next to fences, etc.

The r4 tires on my mx5200 are good for stability, but they flatten the grass and weeds. I wouldnt expect a pristine cut no matter what kind of mower I use. The grass is going to be flattened before the mower touches it.

I tend to suspect kubota stops at recommending a 7 foot cutter because they dont want to go too far and get sued when someone goes too big and overturns on a hill or ditch.

Kubota’s recommendations don’t make a lot of sense when compared to the 3 pts lifting capability.

The owners manuals for both my MFs make no such recommendations. Nor does the manual for a previously owned David Brown.

I struggle with making practical sense of it when it comes to the choice between a 7 foot rotary vs an 8 foot twin.

I thought my l4630 could handle most anything with a 6 foot cutter. Used it last week to cut a field and it struggled. Weeds were about 5ft tall.

I have had my 8 ft on my m5-111 and it stalled the tractor down. Switched to a 10ft batwing and it never slowed down.

Hay Dude: agree about quality of cut, etc w/8' twin. when i stepped up to one from single 6', marked difference in quality & smooth cut given the twin spindle.
in this case i highly question the OP's tractor to handle a 2000# 3ph. if the OP goes w/7' single, would prob work out for him.
but to step up to 8' for an additional 3k & questionable MX handling, i dunno know
regards
