With that area so clean, this is likely a recent refurb.
Often there is a model badge on each side of the hood, near the front.
The chassis model and serial # is typically stamped into the casting by the operator's left ankle.
'38 PS' means about 38 hp measured at the PTO output. (But European PS are only approximately equal to US HP).

The 3T84T is a popular engine in the YM3000R and YM3810. The ending T means TURBO.
The 3T84 at the time was the most widely produced engine and the most sought after.
It shares plenty with the domestic YM series of YM276, YM330 and YM336. Deere used it too 870 and 955.

(But maybe Turbo would take different, dished, lower compression pistons???)

Nope, the turbo models need the modified intake manifold, exhaust manifold and the turbo mounting bracket near the radiator.Here are some more applications for 3T84 per an Amazon listing for an overhaul kit.

I would guess it's the YM3810, but there are a few YM3000R machines over here too.
