What it is???...help ID this tool

A neighbor found this in the barn of his homestead in NC...

It's a little hard to see in the pictures but the three rivets have points and seem to be there for more than just holding the "glove" together...

A corn tool is what I first thought but like I mentioned when you have the thing on your hand it seems the thee hard points are there for a reason...like something for gripping ??...

Nobody has definitively been able to say for sure so I'm hoping a TBN'er has seen something similar as it looks to be homemade ??
