Well, i went and studied online geniuses about fixing it myself. Tried disconnecting battery and reboot. Not

Tried hard reset of sync3 system. Not

Tried thru forscan to rescan and reset backup camera. Not

The last thing a few people said was give the camera a good thump

It works again. You gots to love low tech.

Im going to open access panel in tailgate and clean and seal the connector.

I have a 2017 F150, brother in law has a 2018. Both of us have malfunctioning backup cameras. Mine will freeze sometimes, sometimes show a frozen picture from 5 minutes before, sometimes a bunch of vertical colored lines. I dented my original tailgate and replaced it with a used one. So a different camera, no change, same as before and after. My brother in law had dealer look at his and they said some kind of module needs replaced, expensive of course. He passed. I’ve cleaned all the connectors on mine. No change. Mine malfunctions about 25% of the time.

Funny thing is, ive had this truck for about a year, and it has ALWAYS worked. It only failed yesterday while servicing generators. That got me looking online and finding out about the recall.

But its up and running again. Funny how you get to rely on the stupid thing. I drove for 50 years without a backup camera.

I'm thinking it is covered by a longer warranty, being that out is a safety feature that has become worse than inoperative, as it might fool you into thinking the cost is clear behind you, when a kid has wandered into your path.
Maybe mention lawsuit to the dealer. . .

I agree with you but Ford doesn’t.

Drilled out through the side of a house. First time and I'm 76. Cousin's kids wanted outlets for the the TV on the outside wall in the living room. No problem. Cut the holes, grab the 6' D'Versibit, and with the bit stuck through the outlet hole drill down through the plate into the basement.

HOWSOMEVER, when the bit made its exit, it was right at the bottom edge of the vinyl siding. Came to discover the construction of the wall on the outside was just foam insulation behind the siding. Normally when using that bit the material on the far side of the wall gives it enough guidance to aim it down. Not this time. Finally went to the basement and drilled up into the wall by reaching in above the foundation with a short spade bit in my impact driver. Cousin's kid said not to worry, he'd caulk it some day.

And yes, I know they make a device to "steer" the bit - or you can even use the hole in and adjustable wrench. Been doing it successfully for many years without trying to steer the bit. It's kinda like the guy who finally rolls his tractor after mowing that sidehill spot since 1978:)

I always wanted my Dad (rip) to write down all his Sears Roebuck experiences, but I remember most. I love his drill one.
He goes out with an installer to put in a furnace in a customer's basement. Customer wasn't home. They measure and figure out where to drill a hole for the thermostat wire. They wanted to mount thermostat on the living room wall.
So they're drilling up and installer asks Dad for a longer drill bit. Drilling away then guy says "good Lord! I'll need my bit extersion! Go upstairs see if you see the bit yet". Dad comes back "nothing yet"...so guy keeps drilling, sawdust coming down..."how thick is this floor!".
Finally bit goes through. Guy tells Dad "go upstairs now!". Dad comes back to basement "come upstairs and I'll show you". They go upstairs and the installer's measurement was off a bit...he had drilled up through the leg of a Grand piano!
This time they drilled from upstairs down, then looked around until they found some black shoe polish to fill the piano hole.
Apparently customer never noticed, they never heard anything about it.
