Needing to rig up work lights on my 2006 B3030. Looking to put 2 forward facing on my rops under my canopy. I do not have the upgraded alternator. Which brand would you recommend? Looking to spend around $50 to $60 for the pair.

If they're like me, they have lights but don't know the brand.

Where did you get yours and are you satisfied with them? I see different brands: Hella, Piaa, Peterson, Hobbs. I was hoping someone had one of these brands and would tell me if they like them or not. I think with the dynamo on my tractor, the most I can run is 2-55 watt lights that draw around 4 amps each.

KUBOTA.- Hope the Pix helps as the last two Kubota dealers thought that the light was too much of a bother and recommended a cheep off the shelf light with no switch. Kubota ones with dedicated bracket and on/off switch on light do cost a little more, but the connection point is power on with ignition on. $65 dealer option. Now after getting the right light for the project, at my determination, the last dealer is probably going to stock in the future. I chose the mounting point, which might be lower than the instructions. There is enough wire to mount any where on the ROPS. The lamp is factory mounted with the eye brow in the vertical position. In pretty much any location on the rops the light needs to be mounted on its side. Don't take it apart to make the glass beam pattern correct. it is spring loaded and will rotate. Ignore the eye brow position of the outer black casing, and enjoy the function ability. I only wanted a reverse light when plowing snow and dealing with three point equipment at night. I think that it was the ticket.............Enjoy..

I appreciate the responses. I am trying to keep it where I do not have to upgrade to alternator. But if I have to I will.

I put cheapy, 55 watt off road lights on my from Walmart. I've had them on there almost a year without any problems.

I mounted two 100 watt Generic lights on top of my ROPS and one 50 watt pointing to the rear under the first two. The lights have replaceable bulb inserts, so the light housing never changes. I don't have them on all the time, but have only noticed a problem with battery drain when operating with every light I have available at night (and I only have them all on when near the road, so it's not constant.) One bad storm required being lit up for a couple of hours and the next morning I had a flat battery. This spring I bought a new DieHard (AGM) battery and have it on a battery maintenance system....also new. I went 5 years before buying the new battery and felt good about that, but suspect I could have done much better if I'd had the maintenance system over those years.

You can find alternators for your tractor easily and I think most threads price out needed wiring, alternator, do-it-yourself installation, etc. at around $180.00 and there is one thread detailing step by step installation. I asked my dealer to price a Kubota alternator (40 amp) last week and he quoted their price as $330.00. I also checked Messick's and a brand new alternator with necessary wiring can be had for around $280.00. The new battery for me was over $100.00, but I felt good about getting 5 years out of the first one. With the maintenance system, they are predicting many more years of service from the new battery, but I'm skeptical. Dyer, retired

Mounted a remote controlled search light in place of one of the cab lights Works really well and no wiring to install turns on and off with remote control. See link http://www.golight.com/

On my l3400 I have the foldable ROPS. There are two factory mounted nuts welded onto the lower portion of the ROPS. I checked the size and went to walleyworld and bought a set of BLazer 55 w halogen driving lights. using a standard switch i mounted them today and ran all of the wire in loom and it looks very professional. i also mounted another 55w light facing the rear on the fender. at night I dont plan on running the factory lights because they aint worth nothing with a fel. i can try and get pics later

KennyD, I'm actually KennyA. I know I sounded impatient but I was trying to see what you all were using so that I could get them on order for the weekend. Today I ordered the Hella Oval 100's, 12v, single beam. A little pricey at $41 ea, but they are suppose to be a very good quality light. I will not have them for the weekend. I will do all of my wiring and switch install and be waiting on them. I will post pictures after the install.

Lots of responses come over night, I agree it may take longer.

I have Peterson Manufacturing lights. I am going to use the Trapezoidal pointing forward and the floodlights to the rear. The link to these lights are Peterson Manufacturing Company

I have not had a chance to mount them yet. I bought some stake pockets from Tractor supply that will just nicely wrap around the ROPS. I had a couple of mild steel plated cut to go across the open end of the stake pocket and hold everything on. Here is a link to the stake pocket. Hopefully it will stop raining and I will get them mounted before winter. Tractor Supply Company - Truck Stake Pocket

Finally, I wanted a rugged waterproof switch to turn them on and off from the dashboard. I choose some Push-Pull switches from West Marine. West Marine: Switch - 2 Pos, Sealed Push-Pull Product Display
This style is almost impossible to break off like a toggle switch and easy to operate with gloves on. We used similar switches in the Arctic to turn on various lights and pumps.

Scott, good luck with the install. My lights will not be in until Monday or Tuesday. I am going to try and run all the wiring over the weekend. Where are you going to mount the relay?
