The operators' manual does not say anything about using antifreeze in the DK35, only talks about pure water. Can you use antifreeze in the winter and what kind do you use?

Mine came from the dealer with coolent premixed in the system. It appears to be normal automotive type. I would assume a normal 50/50 mix for those of us in the northern states. Either way it does more than protect against freezing so I'd put it in even if I lived elsewhere. I personally wouldn't use straight h2o. My 2 cents.

Thanks for your response. Would it be the regular green type or the GM DEX-COOL orange type?

Mine has orange type, must be 'cuz it's an orange tractor, right? :)

I have a truck with the dexcool that I am careful to flush on a rigorous schedule. There is a huge contingent of folks who seem to think that this stuff is evil. They call it deathcool.

My Kioti has green antifreeze. I would recommend the common plain jane green antifreeze unless your engine has already been filled with dexcool and then you should stay with it.

Green sounds good to me! Thanks.

I use Fleet antifreeze in anything diesel. Tractor Supply sells for approximately $10.00 per gallon. Information on Fleet Antifreeze at the link below.

Just use green, they come filled from the factory.

The color of antifreeze is no indication of the type of antifreeze that is installed. Here is a technical bulletin from the Filter Manufacturers Council that explains the different types of antifreeze and other details about the product. Possibly it is more information than the average person would want, but it will take less than 5 minutes to read it and it will give you a new perspective on antifreeze types.

Hi,
50/50 mix of permanent antifreeze is what we use in our pre delivery set-up.
It protects against freezing, overheating and also has a lubricant for the waterpump. Don't waste money on anything too fancy here.
