2019 Kioti NX55
Good evening all-

My NX5510 developed some kind of problem today and now it won’t start. I’m hoping someone may have some good advice.

Background notes:
-I was running it for a couple hours of normal bush hogging and it was running fine. I parked it and cut it off for about an hour and after that it wouldn’t start.

-It’s a shuttle shift and when I turn the switch on, the shuttle shift lever shows it’s in neutral, no matter what position it’s in.

-Thought it might be the seat safety sensor. It seems to be pressure operated, so I took it off from under the seat and tried manually holding the switch mechanism down…No change in starting.

-It showed “Error code 007” & Error Code 008 sometimes.

-I drained the fuel filter in case it might be water in the fuel.

-I disconnected the battery and reconnected it to try to clear the error code.

I’m at a loss for what to do next. Thanks for any help.

A bit more info on the 007 and 008 codes. Essentially, it's some safety switch not working right.

Thanks for the link. I saw that thread yesterday and was hoping someone might have some updated info.

I have a similar issue with my NX6010, hydro. It will randomly show in neutral no matter where the selector is located. When in this state, the engine will not turn over. It is failing the safety check. It is blowing one of the 10 amp fuses located in the main panel. I bought a big bag of fuses and keep them in the cab, so I don't get stranded out in the field. It has been to the shop twice for it, they replaced the main safety controller twice under warranty and it is still happening. Good Luck

Update:

It ended up being the seat safety switch. I’ve attached a picture of what the switch looks like for a 2019 model.
(Sorry the picture isn’t better)

it was held in by one screw that connected to the seat frame. The metal leaf spring seems to mash down the little button switch underneath it (the little white dot thing). You can mash the little white dot thing and feel it click. No metal on it is exposed though, so I assumed the switch was activated via kinetic force from the little metal leaf spring.

During troubleshooting, I taped down the metal leaf spring so that it mashed down the little white button looking switch. This didn’t fix anything.

I had ordered a safety switch bypass just to check. When I installed the bypass, the tractor cranked up. The bypass unit was about $11 for a pack of three on Amazon.

I’ve been using the tractor for the last few days and everything seems to be okay. I’ll probably order an actual replacement seat safety switch to install (priced at about $55).

For more context, I did switch out the fuse for the neutral safety. That didn’t fix it, but it did clear up the issue of the dashboard showing “N” when the shuttle shift lever was in forward & reverse positions.

Thanks to everyone for the input. Hopefully this will help someone down the way.

Alternatively, a guy could pull the plug to the switch and jumper the plug.
