We have been on a rural water system for about 8 years now. Our well is hooked up to one outside faucet that we use for watering landscaping. The well quit on us and we had someone come out to diagnose it. Probably the pump but they need to pull it to find out. The pump is probably at least 25 to 30 years old so even if the pump is not bad they might as well replace it, the piping and the wiring. The well is 140 feet deep and produces good water.
I do not think it is worth fixing, even if it does save us a little bit on our water bill. Even when we use the well during the summer, we are probably talking 300 gallons a month or less.
Any good reason to fix it?
