For an insulated electrode wand holder, use a 2"x8" PVC pipe with cap on bottom. Weld the flat side of an exhaust clamp, to the lower edge of the table, then clamp the PVC in it. You can store electrodes in it and hange your electrode wand holder on it also. Put one on each side.

Nice idea. Why only 8" though? Some of us have bigger rods!

a 2 inch clamp pretty standard , with the cap it should give you around
10" aol so you could use and size pvc , you could also just melt a carrage bolt through
the pvc and mount it with a mount .

I like the idea of a fab table and a cutting table made out of grate material. I am going to brace my slotted table with c or angle extrusions. It shouldn't warp too much. I like those clamps. I'll have to get some when I get some spare cash. I keep spending it on welding projects and I just weld everything on top of 6x6 blocks and shims :)

If you use grating for your table put it in upside down, that is with the tie bars to the bottom. When used as flooring the tie bars which are the round bars welded to the flat bars are on top. That's how they are designed to be. But if you were to put them on the top for a cutting table, you will end up cutting the tie bars and your grating will fall apart before its chewed up so bad from cutting that you have to replace it.

if you just want to clamp steel in place for welding, start by taking round stock and bending it past 90 degrees. I use 3/4 inch and bigger. Then drill holes that are 1/16 inch bigger diameter than the rod. The way it works is when dropped in the hole the tip hits and off sets the vertical riser against the holes edge. Need a tighter bight, smack the top down. Done with the clamp, smack the back of the clamp and it comes lose.

And you just need to have round stock, cheap and easy

I believe this is what your getting at. I use them all the time, and I was confused reading it. LOL!

I picked up a couple of these at HF, have yet to put them in yet, the size of your table looks good to me as I dont have a dedicated place to keep all my stuff out, my shop is also the garage,as far as the electrode holder, I use the HF magnetic for the mig and arc just slip the moveable part of the stinger handle into the holder
