Way too much snow

Unbelievable amount of snow for the high desert...:confused2::eek:. I have about 5-6 hours into digging out of a grand total of 39.75" over 3 days. The piles are 5-6' high and go all the way down the drive for about 1500'. Had to do it all with the bucket. If this keeps up for the rest of the season, I'll definitely need to buy a blower!

I jealous. We havn't had but a dusting of snow this year. November was cold and we were hopeful to get in some ice fishing in late December, but it warmed up. No snow. No ice. Just rain. 2018 went down as the 3rd wettest year on record here in northern Indiana since the 1800's. I really enjoy the winter sports, but each year we get less and less cold weather.

FYI - once you buy a blower, IT WILL NEVER SNOW AGAIN. I purchased my current home in 2015 and the MT180D with rear blade from the prior owner. In February 2016, we received 4-5 feet of snow in <24 hours. Rear blade useless; had to hand shovel for 3 days. The entire area was paralyzed. Purchased my Meteor rear blower in summer 2016. We have not had a decent measurable snow since. On the other hand, it is cheap insurance to guarantee no more snow lol.

So true! Years past I had been dealing with lots of snow and finally broke down and bought a blower. Scared the snow away I guess......

We moved here where we receive consist snow, and cool enough over summer where most people don't have AC. Winter sports rock!

Same boat. I bought my BX with snow on the ground. That was 12/31/2015. Since then, we have had more than two inches on the ground one time-November 2018. Since mid-2016, I have had a small landscaping/construction business. Until last November, I lost money on snow removal, every year. $4 on copies of contracts and pricing sheets, but no snow to move. Did I mention I bought a 50" front mount snow blower in Spring 2017? I've never even had it mounted on the tractor.

I'm not the sort to think the world revolves around me, but.....

I tell everyone who is glad there's no snow they have to make a tractor payment. A large part of my tractor purchase was based on the need for snow removal-we got a lot of 6-8 inch snows, the eight years I lived here, without a tractor. Add the occasional 12" plus, and the constant 20-30 MPH winds-by God, I needed a tractor. Crickets.

I see that old roundhouse up there looks like someone has fixed it up a bit. And looks like a couple old steam engines just northeast of that. Any info on the roundhouse or engines?

It痴 been raining like crazy here. Record setting 80 inches last year. Today was sunny and about 60 degrease.
============================================================================================

All that rain will make the Tennessee Valley authority happy to have enough water behind the dams for the coming year. The house boat crowd may not like it though if they cannot launch their houseboats on time though.

Yes, I guess that is the name of the place. I found the roundhouse and engines several years ago while surfing google earth, but didn't know it was associated with any museum.

Here's a picture from google earth. Two engines are in the upper-right and the roundhouse is in the lower left, surprisingly, located on Roundhouse Road! :laughing:
