Walmart - End of an Era

Sams Club.... A Wallmart Co. has two people at the door checking items in your cart. They don't trust the checkout people And I hate waiting in line for some old geezer to count up my purchases. I only go there if they have something I don't buy else where.
I hope I don't have to hang on to a menial job at 75. I would spend less and have more pride.

I guess it depends on why someone is working, sometimes not working, is harder on a mans pride.

I'm with Gale and Eddie on this one. As far as the greeters, sad, but we still have them at our airports (TSA):D Where else? Oh yeah, Church:thumbsup:

Walmart likely hires more employees than the 10 or 15 businesses that "they" supposedly put out of business. The average SuperCenter has 300+ employees. Also the tax revenue paid by Walmart (sales taxes) are more than the "closed" stores combined easily. (Some property taxes are differed, or not charged for a negotiated term in some towns, as a way to get Walmart to move in)

Allot of what Walmart sells, you can buy elsewhere, but hard to touch their buying power. Some things are made just for Walmart.
If folks don't want to shop at Walmart, Don't. Walmart will be here along time, even Kmart is still in business, just on a smaller scale.

What other "evil" chain stores are there that no one wants to shop at? BestBuy, Staples, Kroger?

I am in this camp, I do not have a big problem with Walmart, I do not shop there often, but I do shop there, I am just a bit scared of meeting "some of the people of Walmart"

i think you just insulted a huge section of the population.

Have you ever considered that some people just want 'something' to do to be out of the house.. or out and about.

I know a guy that is on up in the years. his wife has passed but he's in good health. he got a part time job at publix bagging groceries 3 days a week. Gives him a chance to get out.. talk to people.. etc. the minimum wage? he don't need it.. he likes it for the other less tangible benefits.

I'm one of those peole that like to work. right now, i have 2 stressfull jobs. when I get to those golden years.. I'd like to get a 'brain easy' job.. be it bagging groceries or walking carts in.. etc.. etc. I'm LOOKING forward to that....

That isn't the goobermints responsibility now either or the so called workforce the hospitals and doctors pay for that not even the insurance company's are out of pocket other than hospital liability insurance.

So no I dont want to hear that letting the goobermint take over (put out of business) the insurance company's job in the health care industry is the right thing to do. They cant find the red door on a white building let alone decide how my personal health needs need done thats my doctors and my decision period.

Do I think medicare is ok for the elderly yes and I expect it to be there in a few years as well as SS when I need both. Do I think "free" health care is good **** no we dont even know how many people are in the USA lets work on that and then let the states and insurance companys fix the system leave the goobers out of my pocket.

Right now it is the law that people can't be turned away from emergency rooms if they are unable to pay. So people take their kids to the ER for an earache instead to a much more cost effective primary care physician.

Right now the insurance company has a great deal of say about the decisions you and your doctor make. You insurer may be benevolent but I have my doubts.

The reason we have healthcare reform is because the states and the insurance companies fixed the system to benefit the insurance companies, not the citizens of the state.

So Medicare is ok for elderly people but not for the rest of us? Why? So you can pay more for your insurance so the insurance company can make money on your healthcare? Out of principle? I admire people who will do things against their own best interests based on principle.

You don't have to let them check your packages against a receipt. People have sued and won for this sort of thing. I bought several cases of windshield washer fluid, nothing else, which wouldn't fit in a bag. I paid a cashier, not self-checkout, and wheeled the loaded cart towards the door. There was no 'greeter' but three people swooped down on me, demanding to see my receipt. At 5AM. I told them to buzz off, if they thought I was stealing they could call a cop. They insisted and I told them I would sue the if they didn't let me pass. They immediately stepped aside and told me to have a nice day. Don't be a sheeple.

Two local Walmarts in my area of Ohio and no one at either store by the doors. One town has a small group of never employed individuals making a living off of this. The items walk out of one and get returned 15 miles away. Everybody ends up paying more.

I wonder what's going to happen to the handicapped guy at 'my' Wal-Mart in SC? It was a good job for him.

I'll miss that guy. He was good at it.

Look up "Batavia walmart greeter gets punched in the face " on Google. It happens on Christmas Eve or day (I forgot) last year, that's why there's a big to do about greeter and bag checkers. But the lady who got hit (poor thing everyone loves her) was a cashier that day.

How do I know? Happen at my local walmart.
