voltage regulator for 1700

Guys,

Has been a long time since I have posted, but having problems.

Took alternator off and had tested at Advance Auto. They said it was bad and could not cross over. Took it to a rebuild shop and said it was charging fine.

I searched here and found a thread that said to use a '72 Datsun 510 regulator that it is a direct replacement. Well I got the regulator in today and it is a 5 post not 6 which is on my 1700.

Can someone tell me what is the replacement.

I did not find it,My son has a motor a part in the shop he has moved ever thing .He will be back from Georgia tomorrow I will see if he knows were it is.mind was not bad just lost a ground.

I would Just buy the correct one from a dealer here and be done with it

Mine came off of a YM 1700 ,It was not bad because the new one did not work ether
