1984 JD750 4wd
I have a 1984 JD750 4wd. The 4wd is engaged by a ball-bearing loaded, booted bushing which slides into a sort of bell-housing and in theory will produce a safe inter-changing 4wd. It will not stay engaged and continually blows out the bearings into the boot. I attempted to re-fab the housing; however, it lasted a week and gave out again. I was told that parts were no longer made for that year and model. Aside from searching for used parts that may also be worn, it was suggested that I fab a universal joint and shear pin system and just go fulltime 4wd. Any ideas on finding good used or new replacement parts and/or suggestions about correcting the maybe common problem that someone has found a solution to.

Howdy and welcome to TBN :welcome:

I had a 2wd 650 once. That thing was built solid and ran great for me for 15 years (150/year). Good luck finding help here for your 750. There are many talented mechanics on this board although I'm not one of them. If you can get that JD running right it will be around for years to come.

:welcome: to TBN! I think that Roberts Tractor in Ohio has a 750 in their parts yard. They are likely to have one for a decent price.
