i tend to agree.. xp has been my favorite OS from windows. it had been win98se, with some limited exceptions in networking..

2000, ugh, milenium, UGH ACK, 95.. um.. ok.. made you want 98 real bad.

While I agree Win8 could use some help, its basically Win7 (the greatest, btw ) with a new shell.. They can get new ones with Win7, but XP is out as the support is ending soon.

The new shell IS the problem...

that link to make the repair disc? can that be downloaded on another pc and then make the disc?

We are on boradband here at our office location.. but I get into town at night and can get on 65mbs wifi.. If I can dowload the disc images or software on my netbook i tote with me.. then hookup my usb dvd burner when i get back to work, burnt he disc and go.. that would be great.

Yes. Bottom 1/3 of the page has step by step directions for making a bootable DVD image.

and it's the HOME version of vista at that..

I agree Vista sucked almost as bad a millennium .

I think Windows 3.1 was my fav, ( It may have been terrible but back then I didn't know any better) but Business XP was my 2nd fav and now 7 isn't to bad.... once I got used to it.

I have it ( Win 7 )running on my home, office and laptop machines and it is about as trouble free as anything I have run recently

well -- I tried win 8. Dont like it. with 8.1 coming soon, I'm running for the foothills even though I am a microsoft guy and not a fan of apple. I will either go with samsung galaxy note/or nexus 10 or hope I wont pc needs and go with chromebook.

i think that vista img burn stuff topped out my computer knowledge pay grade.

I'm much happier with a soldering iron or a set of dial calipers..

i have windows 8 and it was hard to figure out at first few days whole new ball game.i have Mozilla as my browser and with that i set it up like windows 7 now i love it very fast.

Ya.. I just stay in the Desktop and put the Computer and Control Panel icons on there.. Now I use it the same as WinXP/7.. Never did use the 'Start' button much. Remember how that was a 'wtf?' when it first came out too?
