HELLO TO ALL,
my friend has borrowed a tiller, with the tractor,
for his garden spot. i watched as he made one pass.
i was impressed! it really ground up the dirt. of course
this is a huge machine. 6ft land pride, and i will bet it is
heavy.
good luck to all.

I have a JD 665 Tiller and it will grind stumps out and sod bust fields with no trouble.

I'm thinking about one, but only have an 18 HP (see siggie). I suppose that limits one's options. But I was intrigued by our new friend's statement that his will grind out stumps - wow! I'm clearing mulberry trees from where I eventually want the garden, and am "afeared" the tiller snagging on a root will upset the machine. It'd be nice to know that I had that kind of power behind me.

TomOfTarsus:

I ran a Woods T42 tiller off my old Ford 1100 (13/11+ HP) without difficulty, but I did have to make a few initial passes to break up to sod first. I did not have to do this when I ran my single bottom plow through the sod prior to tilling. Jay

Running a tiller routinely over stumps will shorten the lifetime of your tiller and your tractor's driveline...
