I figured I would start a new thread. What are some uses you have found for your grapple attachment?

More specifically I am wondering if I couldn't lift up smaller trees I want to clear from a lot. KInda like stick the teeth down into the root bed and rock it back as i push forward seems to me would work ok.

That works great. I did the vary same thing to clear about an acre of brush and trees up. I was able to remove some bretty good size oaks with a root grapple. The bigger trees were maybe 14" to 18" at the base. I was using a 95hp 4wd. I did bend a couple teeth on a lighter duty grapple. I rented a HD model for $65 for a weekend and it worked better. You can twist the loader pretty good if you're not careful though. Have fun.

I am also looking into buying a grapple. How is it for removing dirt from piles of brush. I seem to get allot of dirt when cleaning up brush with the bucket.

If done right, it does a very good job of sifting the dirt out. Of course if the dirt is sticky or compacted like in a root wad, it doesn't do as well. Makes burning brush piles much easier. Also, a grapple is great for tending a burning brush pile. Just be careful of getting too close to the hot spots.

I've owned one of these for 3 months or so. I bought it because it was lighter in weight and left me with more loader capacity. I've had no problems with it. Some people wonder if the single grapple is inferior to a double but I haven't found any problems picking things up and holding them. The couplings that come with it will need to be changed to fit your tractor. I think they are set up to work with a skidsteer. I also changed the hoses to something shorter. The cylinder and hoses use British thread so you may need adapters if you change them.

The add said free shipping you can't beat that but if I lived that close I would also pick it up. Let us know what you think of it.

I am thinking this is the one for me:
66" LIGHT WEIGHT GRAPPLE SKIDSTEER ATTACHMENT | eBay

I sent the dude an email to see what shipping would cost vs me picking it up. Its about 2 hrs from me.

IMO 66 inches is wider than you need. There are some mechanical disadvantages to wider grapples. 48 works fine for most everyone who has one. 60 seems fine too but the disadvantage with anything wider is that you need two upper grapples which just complicates matters without adding a lot of benefit and especially increases grapple weight.

Lots and lots of stuff on grapples on TBN so no reason to repeat it all here. Just search and you can read for days or weeks.

I have a 48 inch light duty grapple. Works great on my DK40se.
