One of the local dealers has a used and slightly damaged 73" bucket they are offered to sell me for 500$ (when I asked them about it). I would assume 6% sales tax would be added on to this price making it 530$ out the door. I want to use the bucket for snow removal and other light duty tasks. I would rather have the high capacity bucket (1,195$ retail) but I am pretty sure this one is the standard capacity (834$ retail)

I have looked around and am having a hard time finding used buckets. I have considered going the SSQA route but am worried about the added weight. I have a 4300 with 300CX and loaded rears.

Do you guys believe this to be a good deal? I could always make them an offer, but don't want to insult them. I didn't buy my tractor there but have spent a few hundred on parts through this dealer, the next closest dealer is 65 miles away and I have yet to call and see if they have any discounted buckets, but I plan too.

I'd like to add, any input is greatly appreciated!

I can't buy a 72" bucket to fit my Massey GC2610 so that I can move snow faster, so I've bought some materials to build one myself. I've spent about $200.00 and likely will need another $25 to $50. I was quoted "about" $800.00 to have one made for me.

I can't tell you if the price is good or not based on your supply/demand situation. Regardless, make sure the cutting edge of the bucket is straight. Looks like it is from the picture. You will not be happy with the performance of the bucket if it has a "smile" on the cutting edge. I know because I just spent $300 straightening the cutting edge of my 61" standard duty bucket, adding a reversible bolt-on cutting bar and reinforcing the bottom of the bucket. Not cheap, but now I have a good bucket. Good luck what ever you decide.

I don't have the means to make my own bucket but if I did I probably could not built one of the same quality for less then 350$ or so. Maybe I should just pull the trigger on this one...

I know what you mean... There was another 73" bucket there that had nicer paint BUT the cutting edge was not straight, I didn't even ask for a price. I didn't inquire about the HD bucket behind it either, figured it would be too heavy for my tractor... What do you guys think?

The high capacity bucket is much taller than the standard duty.

But the wider standard bucket would still be at least a little better for snow removal than the one you have.

Price seems a little high for a damaged light duty bucket. offer them 400. don't worry about insulting them. I got a bent 60" bucket from my dealer for ~$100.

I paid $1,000+ for my 73" high volume materials bucket. it also comes in very handy for other tasks involving bulky materials, like cleaning up tree debris from the yard etc.

Well I have the 61" HD bucket now (without holes for cutting edge) but it has a bolt on grapple setup so it would be nice to not have to fuss with it (8 bolts to remove) when I want to use another bucket for light stuff. Is it worth getting the standard 73" (non high-vol) for the snow or should I just remove the grapple? I have never used a FEL for snow removal.

JB4310: Thanks for the input! Understand the second bucket photo in this thread is a different bucket, with a bent cutting edge. I can't tell by the photos if they are different heights or anything, and don't remember if it was taller in person. How damaged was your bucket that you got for 100$?

If the price is right get the other bucket.

The first one had a bent top too didn't it?, the one I got was bent on the top also. pic shows after I straightened it with a jack.

This is a dealer that caters to the white collar crowd, it didn't look good in their yard being all rusty, so they wanted it out of there. The owner of the dealership asked what I wanted to pay, may of been a little less than a hundred, can't remember but I doubt it would of been much more.

as soon as I told him the price he said "it's yours"
