They have something similar on my local dealers lot, but in worse in condition. I should offer them 50$ for it or something. Maybe package it with the 73" bucket! I don't know the exact size of it, any ideas?

I would offer about half of what a new one costs for that bucket in the first post. I think used buckets that need some fix ups are better purchases for those that have welding equipment and other tools needed for the repairs at hand.

For those without the capabilities to make the repairs I recommend buying the heavy duty buckets with bolt on replaceable edges at the outset. Simply put you have less chance of needing to make repairs, almost all the buckets I see that are bent and damaged are light or standard duty buckets.

I would rather have the high capacity bucket (1,195$ retail)

This sentence says it all.

If I were you I'd pass on that first bucket. Why not get what you want the first time? Keep looking for a used one (CL) or put that money towards the high capacity.

I would get the one that the light bent one is in if it was me! I would also stay with JDQA. Talking about HD Bucket in picture of post #5.

I am thinking I should maybe just offer them 400 for it, which I think would be a pretty good deal in my area. I don't have my own welder right now but have friends who can help me with that kinda stuff when I need it. They have a used 73" HD bucket at the dealer but I really think it's too heavy for my tractor, and I am sure they will want a premium for it if it wasn't

As would I if I had a 400 series loader. As I said above, I think that the 73" HD bucket is just too heavy for me. I just looked it up in the deer attachments catalog and they only list it for the 400 series loaders probably for this very reason.

I wouldn't offer $5 for it, but that's just me.

Once steel is bent, the strength it had before will never be the same again. If you heat the metal, AND bend it back, your losing a large amount of strength yet again, by heating, and bending for a second time.

Also, in one photo, I seen a chain hook welded in the center. I would strongly suggest welding one hook on each side, directly in line with where the loader arms attach to the bucket. The closer you are to the side of the bucket, the more support you have. I would still weld a piece inside the bucket for extra support as well.

I guess if all you need is a bucket to move very lightweight material such as fluffy snow, mulch, or something like that, it would work just fine. I wouldn't want anything bent to be seen on any tractor I own though! :D

One of the local dealers has a used and slightly damaged 73" bucket they are offered to sell me for 500$ (when I asked them about it). I would assume 6% sales tax would be added on to this price making it 530$ out the door. I want to use the bucket for snow removal and other light duty tasks. I would rather have the high capacity bucket (1,195$ retail) but I am pretty sure this one is the standard capacity (834$ retail)

I have looked around and am having a hard time finding used buckets. I have considered going the SSQA route but am worried about the added weight. I have a 4300 with 300CX and loaded rears.

I think your 4300 is fairly close in spec to my 3320. I purchased a 84" Horst High Volume bucket for snow work. While it does perform the snow function more or less as expected, the weight of the bucket and some snow make turning difficult at times unless the bucket is raised slightly.

Also icy or packed snow weighs more than one might think and given the chance the bucket will not be evenly loaded it not hard to end up on three wheels even on relatively flat ground - this with an 1,100 lb BackHoe for ballast.

While a 72" high capacity would be a bit less weight - it can quickly add up to a lot of weight way out in front of a relatively small tractor.

You are crazy, the bucket in the first post (which is the one I am considering buying) is worth far more then that. And that slight dent in the top is hardly going to effect the buckets overall strength once I bend it back; IMO.

I am not looking to buy that bucket, but thanks.

I am a function over form kinda guy. I could care less about a small bend if it gets the job done.

You bucket weighs dam near 600lb's, I'm sure that plays a role in your troubles. I would recommend loading your rear tires if you have not already, and going with a lower to the ground ballast, like a 55 gal drum of concrete (1000lb+). I would imagine some of that BH weigh, being higher off the ground, could be negating some of it's useful weight ballast. Then again some of it is further rearward, so that would be helping at the same time so what do I know...

HORST WELDING | HLA >> HIGH VOLUME MATERIAL BUCKET (FRONT END LOADER)

The 73" bucket probably weights around 250-300lb if I had to guess, but I cannot find the specs on it to save my life right now

This guy says he has no problem with a 73" HD bucket on his 3320 w/300cx, however I still feel the HD bucket is just going to be too heavy.

In your original post one of your comments was:

"I would rather have the high capacity bucket"

My comments were relative to a "High Capacity" bucket. For example, as per the info link you provided, a 72" Horst HC bucket only weighs 65# less than the 84" While it seems you may have a handle on the situation, my suggestion (without knowing you or exactly what type of HC bucket you were looking at) was that a HC bucket - plus the weight of whatever in it - could lead to unintended results on a tractor the size of a 4300 / 3320.

In any event - good luck on your search for a suitably priced bucket.:)

I was considering the JD high volume bucket, which I am sure weighs less the the Horst bucket. I should have been more clear on that. In the JD catalog it lists the 73" and 85" HV buckets for the 300CX loader, but as an example only lists the 73" HD (not high volume) bucket for the 400 series. I would assume your Horst bucket is fairly heavy duty.

Thanks for the input!
