3-Point Hitch Upper Link Anchor

The Allis Chalmers 5050 has an "upper link anchor" that pivots on the lower end. At midpoint the anchor attaches to a "U" shaped 3/8" steel "spring". There is also a "Lift Operation Selector Lever" that attaches also to anchor. My problem is this: I can NOT get an upper link pin to go thru the anchor to hold the upper link. Does anyone know how this is suppose to work??
