Either one dealer hits all the Craigs list tractors for sale listings for all the cities and farms within a 200 mile radius of my farm at least, or TYM has saturated the market in this area. Ideas?

I see very few TYM or Branson for sale in this area since TYM did not retain local Branson dealer. Kubota has upped their dealership network though.

According to the dealer locator there are 11 TYM dealers in Texas

Not sure what you mean. I literally just got a mailer from a new Dealer just West of Paris. There's one in Tyler, Longview and Carthage. The Longview business has a sister store in Seagovillle. Another pair in FW and Granbury.

There was only one TYM dealer anywhere close to me that I was able to find when I was shopping. They went under firly quickly though and I do not know of another one around. There seems to be a Kubota dealer in every little town around me though, and Deere is right there too.

For me, there's a happy medium. Deere's model is really just one dealer with many storefronts. Part of the advantage of more dealers is to negotiate (money and attentiveness).

JD and Kubota are both more concerned with commercial and government contracts than with most of us small potatoes. JD does a good job with big AG guys, too.

In the last year, TYM has been actively building their network, not just with more dealers, but with a few bigger/better dealers (see Gold). They will never be as widespread as JD or Kubota. That's not a bad thing to me. In 2 years, I needed filters for 50 hour service and a phone call about a question.

Can you explain you post a bit further?
We'll go to tractors for sale on CG and put in Dallas....then spread out in a radius from Dallas a couple hundred miles.....see for yourself what brand of NEW tractor keeps showing up in all the answers.

I don't use Craigslist. Too many scammers.

My guess would be that sone of the dealers saw it as an under-served market.

Similar to how JD and Kubota rarely ran ads during the troubles (they were selling anyway), the bigger names probably don't feel the need to advertise in that way.

Sorry to leave them out. A bit far from me and I believe the OP is N of DFW.

Been through Jax a few times. Nice place from what I could tell.

I'd like it if some of these dealerships made small partnerships. 3-5 stores max where they could have the advantages of a bigger dealership while keeping the small town service and availability.

The manager of my closest one is trying to improve them. Store is almost an hour S of me. He lives 20 minutes N of me. He offered to deliver parts so I don't have to drive so far. You don't tend to get that from the big conglomerates.

You just answered my curiosity. I know of no other dealer of any brand that has saturated my local area like this.

In my region, we have one local dealer, one :30 min away, three appx 1-3 hours. A total of 6 in our whole state.

So not many to choose from IMO.

The two close to me, neither are a corp store setup. No overhead, e.g. no grab and go parts. Everything is on an order basis only. Also both are closed on Sunday but open Saturday. Every other dealer bean is closed Saturday & Sun except Deere, half day on Saturday in it’s remote store (not its home store).

Extraordinarily rare around here for something like an equipment dealer to be open on a Sunday. Saturdays are usually a 4-6 hour deal if they are open at all.

Unless you consider TSC or the like to be a 'dealer'.

I know hobby farmers aren’t the same classification as ag farmers, but if a brand is going to sell products to that market segment, one would think the stores would match their shopping needs. That being said, how did the analysts miss that? Hobby tractor owners and NOT having retail sales hours available to them. Mind blowing.

BUT, I was visiting family not long ago and Rural King was in a mall location and the only store doing well.

Imagine a John Deere in a mall with mall hours. Stocks with swag, clothing, toys, and a nice parts dept. As popular as JD is, even to non tractor owners, I cannot imagine it failing. And pulling agriculture families into a retail space, seems like a win-win to me.

But still, when I see someone post “your dealer matters”, I laugh becuase my dealer isn’t available when I’m working and breaking stuff. So my dealer had very little influence in the color of my tractor purchase.
