TYM/Mahindra vs TYM

I have 2 TYm built mahindras with over 1600 hrs total with only a couple small issues , No problem getting parts.

I saw a 2010 TYM T451 with 866 hours listed for $23,400 at a dealer. The description says the AC isn't working because it needs a new compressor. Having a cab without AC in Middle TN would be much worse than an open station tractor because of the heat build up. Although I think it would be really nice to have a new tractor with a cab and working AC, now I'm having reservations about spending $32 or 35k on a new tractor just to have comfort that might or might not be working in 10-15 years.
Do you have A/C in your car? No different in my opinion. If my A/C breaks I will fix it.

As far as HST question, for a lot of mowing I would want shuttle shift gear transmission.

There's a difference between being stuck in a car in 90 degrees during stoplight traffic on asphalt versus sitting under a open station tractor canopy out in the field even if it is 90 degree temperature.

I have been swarmed by those pesky stinging ground wasps while bushhogging a couple of times. A cab would have been really welcome.

My point was the system is the same. The tractor takes a little more care because of dust and debris but still is reliable. Most people that have problems with their car A/C get it fixed.

But yes, I have spent many hours in a tractor with A/C broke and my dad did not want to spend the money to fix it. Went through 2 years in that thing! IH 1586. Nice strong tractor and was shame things were not done to it when they needed it. But putting in 5000 acres of row crop with 5 tractors at 8 rows a pass you can’t slow down. Plus we had to take care of the other 10,000 acres of timber and pasture land over winter and after the crops were laid by. At least that is was Dad’s excuse. I did not much buy it as the only guy with the broke A/C on the farm! :ROFLMAO:

Local dealer doesn't have T474 with shuttle shift in stock, but has one T574 shuttle shift open station in stock for $29,900 delivered. He's said prices are going up and can't quote a price on a T474 but thinks the two machines would be within a $1,000 of each other in the end so he recommended buying the T574 because it's 9 inches wider, has a heavier frame and more FEL lift capacity.

Besides mowing, I also have to deal with some trees here and there. A larger machine would be better suited to that. And I have some slopes to deal with where a wider machine would be better.

$1000 between a 474 and 574? Wow. I can see the 494 and 574… but a 474?

I don't know how much the dealer is blowing smoke and how much he really expects such a price increase on the next 474s he received to put them close in price to the 574 he has in stock.

You can get a good idea of comparative prices at some dealers. Big Tex publishes their package prices for the former Branson models. There is about a $3300 difference in the package price between a 4815 and a 4820. When I ordered mine, the prices were the same for the TYM equivalent 4815 to 474 and 4820 to 494. My 574H was $29,165. The HST runs about $1500 over Shuttle. Seems like your dealer is about 2k high on the 574 shuttle. (Unless there are other options in the deal)

Thanks. I've had several things to deal with today that prevented me from digging further into this except that this dealer seems to be quoting me the retail price for the basic 574 shuttle shift tractor and loader I see advertised by other TYM dealers without any discounts or incentives.

The T474 is perhaps TYM's best seller besides the T25/T264, I've got 332h with no problems. The Kukje engine is very simplistic and reliable.

I too, love this particular picture! It brings me memories of my youngster life in Minnesota! This was the scenery about 7-8 months of the year!
