Recently i have been seeing a commercial for digital cameras on tv, and it says out of the 4 best known name brands of cameras only XXXXX is THE OFFICIAL CAMERA OF THE INTERNET! now how can that be? anybody else see this and wonder about it? or am i just being to critical? /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

That is what a commercial is supposed to do. Make you think (perhaps even wonder about it /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif) and hopefully buy their official product.

Speaking of TV commercials, have any of you seen the commercials for the British Ford SportKa? They are absolutely hilarious if you don't take them out of context. Animal rights activists definitely wouldn't approve of them and there is no way that they could be shown in the USA, however the European market is definitely not as Conservative. If you get a chance to view them, post a review. Each runs about 1 mb in length.

Being the "Official" anything doesn't mean superiority. In the digital camera arena it is known that Canon is King with Nikon trying to catch up.

I sometimes have to marvel at the pointy-haired boss thinking of marketing folks. Who do they expect to impress with that "official camera of the internet" babble? Everyone I know has enough knowledge of the internet to be able to scoff at such a claim, and avoid that brand like the plague because they make such unfounded claims.

Now, my favorite TV commercial is the one that says, "Nothing works better for pain than xx brand." I say, "Great! Because nothing is what I use!" If I did buy a pain killer, I think I'd want something that works better than nothing.

Or, how about, "Have you driven a Ford lately?" "No, I'm still alive."

Canon lenses are superior in the general public realm, not their camera per say! That is a fact.

Take a look at any sports photographer shooting a digital camera -- IMHO: 95%+ will be shooting with a Canon or Nikon. I would bet that from that group you would see more Canon's.

I shoot with a FujiFilm camera -- so I am not a 'homer'.

There ya go Junkman -- I put IMHO -- just in case you didn't realize that what I am typing is my opinion.

Don : i agree with u 100% , but i wonder how many folks don't know actually what the internet is? and would be impressed with this bit of BS. also i wonder how many people really buy an item because it is the OFFICAL whatever of anything. i.e i bought my current digi cam because of its features( that were important to me) and it's price for those features. . All Pentax did is trademark the phrase. Really means nothing, as we all know. There was even a news release on their site talking about it.

Muhammad should trademark "The Official Compact Tractor Board of the Internet"

To me the official "camera" of the internet should be the webcam by Logitech. Just about everyone I know is using it to date with! LOL John
