I found out the hard way that the lenses in the signal lamps are press fit plastic to plastic. On my B2910 they were held on by 3 screws, not anymore. Apparently several weeks ago I knocked the rear lens out of the left turn signal lamp. Friday when I was mowing I fortunatly saw the lens laying in the grass. I apparently ran over it last week and broke the center out of it.

I called my dealer and they had one in stock, so I went up yesterday morning and got it. Now I am going to use some caulk to help hold it in place, and will also do the same for the other lenses.

I have found a lot of cost cutting measures since my old B2910 was built. :smiley_aafz:

I've been looking at how much more plastic is on these newer machines... kind of scary compared to my 3/4 metal BX2200...

I hear you. I still have a bur in my saddle over no right side grab handle on the fender. Holes are there for you to mount it once you pay the $80 for it. I mean, if you are buying something for $20k....you would think they could put it on.

And yeah, I get it, the tractor would then be $20,080....so be it.

Yup. I was looking online at a new/newtome tractors, and it's amazing how many of them don't come with items that, heck, even my little BX has.

Also looking at older L series machines that are built like my old BX. Though finding one that is just the way I like it is hard to find. Some are sketchy as frig...

No idea if this is true, but I've heard others surmise they're designed this way so that on impact they'll pop off rather than crack in place. I will say I've side-swiped my wood pile more than once when mowing and had a lens pop off of the ROPS mounted signal lamps, unharmed. But I have had to replace a cracked lens that's screwed onto the rear fender.

I'd wager it has more to do with the cost of manufacture & assemble than anything else. Much faster to snap on lenses than fiddle with screws or anything.
