Here in Indiana, we didn't have much of winter and not only are we looking at record bug levels this summer, but right now the Tulip trees are covered with Scale (an insect). It lives by sucking the sap from the branches of the Tulip Poplar.. This year we have a record crop and anything left outside for more then a few minutes is covered with "honeydew" or Scale excrement. I've got the shell of the barn done so I can at least keep the car inside, but everything left outside is covered with this "STUFF".
Anybody else having huge bug problems because of the mild or nonexistant winter this year?

It was getting bad but then we had two or three really bad frost days, damaged a lot of plants and killed off a lot of the bugs that were starting to ramp up. So far its been pretty good bug wise.

I really dont see any critters eating on the tulip poplars here in NW Georgia; but SOMETHING is killing them........They put on new growth that almost immediately becomes wilted and then withers over a week to 10 days.......We are talking old growth and new ones......It's a shame really cause even though they are weed trees they do provide a lot of cover.........Wonder what this problem is.........God bless......Dennis
