TS 1610

Just bought a 1610 at a auction,Had a hard time starting when I got it home. There is a lever on left I believe this is a decompression lever? It also sounds like a rod knocking when trying to start is this normal. And finally after it starts I cant shut off I have to pull what I believe is the decompression lever and stall it, is it supposed to shut off with key?please help thanks

Yes that is the way I turn mine off. Lower the idle speed and pull the decompression lever. Don't forget to push it back in.

He, He, when I first started looking at tractors I looked at some Yanmars and they sounded like they would self destruct, they call it Yanmar Hammer. The Isekies aren't nearly as bad but there is a desernable knock, probably injectors. I think its all in the design, some manufacturers are noisey, some are are pretty quiet.
Could you post a picture of the lever your talking about, I don't seem to have one on my tractor, just a pull to stop knob.
BTW that's the way a diesel is stopped you cut off the fuel or air.
