trying to post

About half the time I try to reply to a post, instead of going to the page to type the message it goes to my home page screen. I'll try clicking on "post reply" about a dozen times before I can type a message. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Sounds to me like you are trying to reply to a thread that has been closed.

When looking at a list of threads, you should see an icon to the left of the subject name. This is there meanings:

- Closed Thread

- Open Thread

Yes I have found also when replying to a thread that is closed it will take me to my home page.

Thanks for the info guys, but I don't thing that is it . I tried posting to this tread (which I assume is still open by the icon) and it took me 7 tries before I got to the reply to page. after every try when it goes to my home page I hit refresh and eventually I can get to the right page????

After the above post I tried replying and this time it worked fine. I do have another question. What determains when a tread is closed and why? just curious. thanks again.

Threads are usually closed when they stray too far away from the posted topic, or members begin to start arguing (flaming)with each other, or the thread turns political, among other things. TBN has earned the designation of being a Family Friendly Site, and as such, anything that is posted must meet the criteria that determines what is Family Friendly. Very basically, that just means that the content on TBN should be viewable by children.

As moderators, we don't just run around indiscriminately closing threads on a whim. Very often the reasons to close a thread are discussed before the thread is closed.

I'm sure that you remember reading the Terms of Service that we ALL read when we registered the first time /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif, but just in case a few of the minor points may have slipped past you, here are the Terms of Service for you to read through again. This will give you a good idea about things that could result in a post being deleted or a thread being closed. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

reasons to close a thread are discussed before the thread is closed 

To clarify a bit, they see how the other moderators see a subject and decide collectively to close it or leave it open, if some think it have value or merit. They even consult Muhammad if they have doubts /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
