Troy Built Pony Rototiller Reverse

I have an older Troy Built Pony and want to know how to add a reverse. There is a kit for sale but it appears to be one pulley and something I can't identify. Has anyone used this kit? Does it have all the pieces I need? I have not been able to find anything specific on the net. Any help would be appreciated. Larry

I can't see it from here. Is there supposed to be a picture? Most non-transmission-based reverses use a pulley that moves between a drive belt to change direction. It's really a simple mechanism and doesn't require a clutch.

The Troy-bilt I had already had reverse built in.
The lever you push down to engage the belt that drives it forward also acts as reverse. You lift it UP until the 2 pulleys come in contact and that will reverse your machine. During reversing the belt doesn't come into play. It is the direct contact between the 2 pulleys.

Hey Larry, I’ve worked with the Troy Built Pony before, and adding a reverse is definitely possible, but it can get a bit tricky. The kit you're talking about might be for the pulley and the reverse mechanism, but you’ll also need the appropriate linkage to make it all work smoothly. The kit doesn’t always come with everything you might need, like the extra parts for the gear engagement.

T kit I have seen does not include an actuating lever. Just the pully and a bracket. I guess I will have to find the lever. Probably difficult. Does anyone have a picture to show how the pully is attached? I better start looking for parts. Thanks

Were you able to get this solved? I have a Troy Bilt Pony as well. Great tiller! The engine has two shafts. The extra one is for the reverse pulley. Does your engine have the two shafts?
