Engine has me bewildered. New points, new muffler, new oem carb. I let it warm up, runs pretty good lower rpms, but typically as soon as i give it more gas, it skips as if starving for fuel. Misses so severly i have to back of to lower throttle.

Adjusted carb and double checked. Just wondering if when it starts to skip if i shot some fuel in the breather and corrects that would answer problem as fuel issue. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Oh, original tecumseh engine and not sure of age, but plenty old

Thanks

Maybe a plugged hole in the side of the main jet on the bottom. Part 40.

It's a very tiny hole. A little speck can plug it.

You may have cracked. Intermittent issue so that would make sense. Anxious to check it in the am, thanks again

Also check fuel filter, and vent in fuel cap if equipped. Simple test would be to run it till it starts running rough, then crack the fuel cap and see if there's a vacuum. Good luck.

Air filter, too.

We'll just keep adding stuff until something resolves the problem!

This may not be relevant but I had a snow blower with a tecumseh motor and it would miss and shoot a flame out the exhaust occasionally and was low on power. It ended up being the valves were to long and there was not any clearance between the stem and cam.
