Trees--cut with \'Limminator or \'Terminator?
20060601
I searched and found some of you mentioned knowing someone who uses one of those with a Skid Steer or hefty tractor to cut small to medium trees. I've got a whole hillside of sight path to cut, mostly small cedars and playing Chainsaw Charlie is the pits.
Local dealer has a TreeLiminator that he will let me demo and if I buy it, give me one **** of a price on it. It uses a sawing technique but has limited ability to keep the tree from just flopping over, worries me a bit, though my loader has a FOPS.
My Bobcat salesman has a used jaw-chopper shear tool (17") similar to the TreeTerminator someone wrote about. More money but also a good deal. It grips the tree part the way up while the closing jaw cuts at the base, so most trees, certainly ones I should be messing with, will be secured and carry-able.
Getting up and down that hill will be the test, so a demo is essential to assess how safely I can do it.
Has anyone here used either of these, saw or shear, with tractor or Bobcat?
TreeLiminator LandPride
TreeTerminator
Thanks,
Jim
