Tree remover on 3 PTH

I posted earlier about seeing a similiar cutter operate. Obviously some judgement needs to be used to make this machine safe. What machine don't? Anyone cutting a tree with a severe lean in the direction of the tractor probably deserves to have a tree on them and get them out of the gene pool. I can only relate my experience, and never felt uneasy with cutting trees with this machine. I expect some of my confidence in this machine stems from my advancing age and the inability to run a chainsaw all day long. I didn't have to push the buttons very hard on this machine to take down a tree, and could last all day. My personal machine is a skid steer mounted hydraulic motor powered saw. My skid steer saw only develops about 36 HP at the blade so does not cut as fast and will only cut about a 14" tree without working both sides of the tree. This is a land clearing machine and not a firewood cutter. It will lay enough wood down in a couple hrs. to keep firewood chainsaw operaters busy for quite some time. I agree that this is for use on heavy tractors in the 85 to 100 HP range or even bigger if the gearbox will handle it.

$7K buys a really big chainsaw and unlimited supply of replacement chains. Interesting gear but I will pass

Definitely interesting. Whether the basic concept is safe or not is up for debate. However; I would want a full FOPS/ROPS cage on the tractor.

They make a couple of different sized cutters for various tractor sizes.

I watched the full video, and they only got into cutting a couple of leaning trees towards the end. It would be interesting to see how it handled a non-leaning tree.

For the cost of these machines, one better make a living with one, or have a crapload of trees & stumps to remove.

Also, the web site is very amateurish, which doesn't add confidence to the machines' abilities and safety.

7K is minor compared to the 50 - 100K for the tractor. Probably would not make sense to anyone without already owning the tractor. It is available in smaller sizes but I have only seen the large version work. Since I do not own the large tractor, I think I will pass also. 7k would buy a nice chainsaw and an operater to go with it for most casual users. For a farmer who already owns the tractor and has tree row encroachment problems, I think the saw makes good sense.
