Tree pruning in the PNW

it's the nature of social medial that's sometimes silent. sounds like you have done admirable first responder service, well done

on a safety tangent, lots of safety issues on the horrific Swiss bar fire. where were your namesake, sprinklers? lots on unanswered question. it's one thing to jeopardize one's own safety, but collective safety negligence of an owner is unacceptable.
I’m assuming it did not have fire sprinklers and curious why it did not have them.

Many times if the building is old and did not have them then unless they did a major remodel nobody would make them have them installed.

it's always a tragedy when safety infractions surface after the fact. esp with an incident involving multiple causalities. the sprinklerless problem may also be systemic in that the Swiss code was not enforced for the bar operation. so not only is bar owner held accountable, but the system (or lack thereof) was not in place

After thinking about it I just had to respond to the "safety police" comment. It was derogatory and misses the point. The reason I want to see people act safely is because I don't want to see them get hurt. Even if I don't know the person. It's just empathy. I have been hurt badly. I know what it feels like. I don't want anybody else to be hurt like that. So that's why I hate to see unsafe practices, especially egregious examples. I think most folks that see people doing stuff that is needlessly risky feel like I do. They don't want to see someone get hurt.

I had an area that I would never had time to complete so had an excavator with a thumb/grapple, bulldozer and skidloader remove unwanted and invasive items. Worth it to me on time and safey.

I have a similar tractor/fel/setup. I do crawl up my extended FEL to replace the batteries on my trail cams. I have found that the problem is that since the tractor is off, the FEL shifts downward (loses it's pressure) over time. So there is an about 1" shift of the FEL every 15 minutes or thereabouts. It's unsettling. I have assumed that this is a release to not keep the pressure on the gaskets, etc for an extended period when not in use. If I leave the FEL up off the ground and come back the next day, it is resting on the ground.
I had that type of issue at one time. Sounds like it's time to rebuild the cylinders.

Used a rope saw w/ the misses today. Took a nice size branch off this old cherry tree. I wouldn't want to use one all the time, but it did pretty darn good.
